This page shows how to query ground snow loads for the lower contiguous 48 states. Two methods of elevation querying are offered:

  1. Using the Query Elevation component, which sends a request to opentopodata.org
  2. Using the Query Elevation Tiff component, which samples a local geoTiff that contains elevation data of the lower contiguous 48 states with a 100m x 100m resolution. The goeTiff can be downloaded from HERE.

Ground snow loads can be determined for many locations within the lower contiguous 48 states. Note that not all locations are supported. Please see the snow load documentation for an explanation of how ground snow loads are developed.

To query ground snow loads, follow the steps below:

  1. Provide an address in a panel component
  2. Input the address into the Query Lat/Long component, which will return latitude and longitude
  3. Input the latitude and longitude into either of the following to query the elevation
    1. Query Elevation (if querying opentopodata.org)
    2. Query Elevation Tiff (if querying local geoTiff)
  4. Input the latitude, longitude, and elevation into the Query Ground Snow component
